Declassified Burlington (Chobham) files
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

This was posted over on TankNet. An interesting look into UK-US discussions on Burlington during the MBT-70 project.

It's more than discussions,

They actually give live fire results with HEAT and APDS rounds. I know that "Burlington" being the first generation of this type of Armor is obsolete compared to what we now use, but for those not aware how great of a technological advantage it was at the time this might help them understand. It completely revolutionized tank design and stopped the "Tank is Dead" Missile pundits that were infesting the Military. As time goes on more of this stuff will be made available to the public, and with that many war games will have to be updated along with many perceived facts.

Kudos to the UK for recognizing it's importance to share with her NATO Allies. Reminds me of what they did during WWII with Radar research and development.

Thanks for posting Neil,

Joe D

And the post-war US sharing of nuclear developments with the UK...

Nice post, Neil!
