Post subject: Com Central Sunday flights 2006: a yearly balance

We're at it again: if it weren't for the awareness we have more trips ahead of us in the forthcoming year, I'd look at this "closing the accounts" report with a bit of nostalgy... oh, well, after all it's just statistics! Mr. Green

During the closing year, we flew 51 flights, covering a distance of 20.607,70 nautical miles, for an approximate duration of 80 hours and 10 minutes - well, this is really quite approximate!

The full list of the planes we used, in order of appearance, is as follows:
Cessna 208 Caravan Amphibian
Spartan 7W Executive, by Milton Shupe, Scott Thomas and Urs Burkhardt
Howard 500, by Milton Shupe, Scott Thomas and João Paz
Boeing 737-400
Lockheed L-049 Constellation, by the FSDezign team
North American F-86 Sabre, by Kirk Olsson
Beechcraft D18S, by Milton Shupe, Scott Thomas and André Folkers

To give you a graphic idea of what a feat was ours, here are screenshots taken with Google Earth - I had to split it in three Shocked

Case you want to experience just a portion of the thrill, and have Google Earth installed, here's a little kml file which will help you. Consider it includes all the airfields we touched. The very small zip package includes also a flight plan for FS9, case you're so bold to attemp the whole adventure in one leg Wink

At this point I'm compelled to say there wouldn't have been any fun, if it weren't for all the people who joined into this experience and shared their emotions: if we have to consider these flight sessions as an achievement, it's a merit the whole Com-Central community deserves to be proud of.

So I'm glad I have this opportunity to thank all those who attended, even just for one flight, and a special mention has to be spent for our ATC, Uhu_Fledermaus, who "saved our lives" in many a occasion!

At last, a word of gratitude for our host, Shadow_Bshwackr, who made all this possible.

Marco

And all of this would not have been possible without the the unselfish efforts of Herr Uhu_Rodion, tinkering up all those flight plans every week over the past years !!

Grazie Mille Dottore !!
