M551 Fire (1978)
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

This Sheridan caught on fire after it was loaded with ammo to go down range. Location was the Dona Ana (New Mexico)
Range near Fort Bliss, Texas. 'L-27' belonged to L Troop, 3/3 ACR.

Hi,

I'd hate to be the IO for that Report of Survey. Even worse would be the guy at fault! Even back then, those babies had to be expensive...

I vaguely remember hearing about that. I was a Senior in High School in El Paso in 78. There were a number of training incidents on Ft Bliss that I heard about from 1977-1982.

When one works at the Officers Club, you tend to hear about all those things that don't seem to make the news....

Regards
Don
