I don't know any more than is in this email that was posted in M114-M113 @ yahoogroups.com
----- Begin message ---
I have come across another vehicle I've been trying to locate (in its
present condition) for many years so I've decided to part with my
T114. The T114 is in excellent and very restorable condition and
could be made to run with very little effort. The unit has 124 miles
since it was rebuilt at PUAD in 1974.

The hull is one of the best hulls I have ever seen and is not dented
and is nice straight and no demil what so ever.
It has the correct early cupola and has all new vision blocks around.
The interior is complete minus one grenade box and the binocular holder.
It has the correct early commander station with seat and an excellent
condition drivers seat.
The wiring harness is complete and uncut and in great condition, needs
to have one end replaced but it's all there.
The fire suppression system is complete.
All interior panels are present and in great condition.
It has all the exterior parts and pieces.

I've added quite a bit of accessories for it too:
I have two correct tow ropes, complete set of pioneer tools, 1 M72A2
rocket, M19 IR Scope (NOS) and a few other items.

Tracks are excellent condition, needs one road wheel due to a bit of
rubber separation.

A lot of the interior parts have been blasted, red oxided and painted
the correct gloss white. This unit needs very little to finish up
except a few minor parts and pieces and a little time.

The T114 is serial number 280 and has a correct title with the hull
serial number.

Price is 25,000 and it's located in Hahira Ga. I can arrange shipping
and loading.

Pictures can be seen at:

If interested please call me at 229-269-9029 for more info.

Hi Bob (F15)! Hi Folks!

Very interesting!
I guess the T114 version is the type that had the metal fenders on the front.

It's bad enough that the sprockets didn't stick out in front of the hull to help climb over things, but to build a tracked vehicle with metal fenders at the front of the hull is just plain double dum!

It would be very interesting to talk with the person or team that designed that hull layout. My guess is he/her/they had never designed a track vehicle before or ever drove one cross country.

One point about the claim that this vehicle has not be de-milled. It has been de-milled. The guns mounts have been removed and that is how a M114 and a M113 is de-milled.

Thanks Don! This one has something different I have never noticed on a T114/M114 before. There are a number of items on the lower edge of the hull side. Does anyone know if those are bolt heads or sometype of tie down point?

The standard tie down points on the sides are missing and there is a set of three bolts (?) that is also new to me.

It doesn't have a parachute extraction point on the front hull. ??
The drive shaft caps are missing. I wonder if that one still has it's power pack?

Interesting!

I'm having a little trouble with the PC where my Aberdeen pictures are stored but the T114 there is very different from the T114s posted here. The rear hull is very different having a more rectangular door and a towing pintle mounted on a frame hinged on either side of the door. It also has a turret mounted .30 MG

While I never saw one, I remember the TM for the M114 had a section on a trailier hitch that was mounted on the rear towing lugs. Which blocked the rear door in case of an emergency. A 114 was doing good to pull itself, it didn't have anything to spare for towing something else.

As for 30 cal. machine gun, maybe the TC broke his M2 50 cal and took the rear 30 cal. The T114/M114 came into service when old 30 cal.s were still in service. A 30 cal. on one of the two rear gun mounts would be correct for a 114A0 but AFAIK, not for an A1 or A2.

No this was an actual turret mounted .30

I found a picture of it here
www.eaglehorse.org/4_f...14_pt1.htm

And here
www.xenophon-mil.org/m...berd21.htm

Neil or Piney do you have a better picture?

OK, now I understand which vehicle you are talking about. That turret with the 30 cal machine gun inside it is the proto type vehicle that was never put into production.

I have the trailer hitch for mine, evidently we will be pulling a small float in the Bowdon founders day parade in August. I will let you know how that goes (although I dont think power will be a problem Razz ) I will also keep you guys updated on the progress of the other two M114's

The M114 is covered quite well on JED which, incidentally, is now approaching the end of its free access period.......

Took advanage of the free access to stop in and check out the M114 site.
Looking good Sir!

One thing that doesn't look right to me. All the M114A1E1/M114A2s that I worked with had XM27 turrets, not XM26s. From the out side the two turrets look the same. Only the gun cradle was different. On the inside, the XM27 had hydraulic power that could spin the turret 360 in about 5 secords.

When I was in Germany, the Battalion Commander sent two M114A2s up to a W.German AAA range on the Baltic coast with the 3rd ID Vulcan units. We had a lot of fun shooting at aerial targets. There is no way a M114A1 with the XM26 hand cranked turret could be used that way.

Some of my old history.
