Castelletto Sopra Ticino. Museo Gottard Park
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

This is a very funny place, one of those rare location when both AFV geeks and family can have fun at the very same time. I am publishing some pictures on Flickr, the gallery is still a work in progress:

I think it is (or was Wink ) a Continental AV-1790-5B Air Cooled V12 powerpack of a M47 tank
At the enclosed photo you see a complete powerpack consisting of the enigne (your 1st photo) and the transmission (your sencond photo)

I'm only 100% sure about the Continental AV-1790 part
There are a lot of different type's of this engine used in all sorts of AFV's around the world

Other options are Continental AVDS-1790 or Continental AVSI-1790, they a look similar

That would make sense, since it's in Italy

Thanks

Massimo -

Museo Gottard Park looks like a fun place! Like the front yard I envisioned having when I was a child. Not like I've really grown up - just gotten older! LOL!
Great photos - as usual.

Cheers!

Looks like a Brockway B666 Bridge erecting truck (bridge layer)

This should be a mine-cleaning Aardvark JSFU.
Who uses this kind of vehicles?

Massimo

"Aardvark clearance machines have been used by the military and humanitarian mine clearance organisations in Europe, Africa and in the Middle and Far East. Aardvarks have also been chosen by the British and American forces for landmine clearance in Afghanistan and Iraq."

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aardvark_JSFU

According to the article, the following nations use it:

* Canada - deployed in Afghanistan
* France
* Netherlands
* Republic of Ireland
* Saudi Arabia
* South Korea
* United States)
* United Kingdom
* Latvia

I've also seen it used by non-military de-mining organizations in different parts of the world. These are humanitarian Governmental or Non-Governmental Organizations (GO/NGO) that work to remove mines left over from various conflicts around the world. I saw something very similar in Bosnia in 2003, and pictures of a similar machine somewhere in Africa since then.

The Netherlands has tested it, but now the testvehicle is preserved at the Engineer School at Reek. Aardvarks are not in use in the Netherlands

Thanks, I already read the article on Wikipedia, I mostly wonder which armed forces or military organizations use them
