hey guys, im a big fan of this website. I emailed the web owner, and asked him if i could redo the entire site layout for him. I really like what this website brings to the flight sim community, but for a person not familiar to this site, it can be really confusing to navigate. Plus the pictures on the downloads page and the music that is piped in on every page is a nightmare for modem users like me.

I would like to give absquad a totally new face lift. I am proficent in html, javascript, macromedia flash. i would also like to incorporate php or asp into the site as well, to make a searchable database for all the downloads. This way, a user can type in corsair, and all the downloads available for that plane appear on one search page.

I dont mean to demean your website in any way. Its that from a web programmers perspective, the image of the site does not do any justice for the content and greatness of absquad.

I have a some demos and betas of the new site layout available soon. If you would like me to show you any of this, my email is ioi8 @ aol.com

While I appreciate the offer, I think I'll leave the site as it is for the time being. We get a lot of compliments on how easy it is to navigate through the site, and especially on the music files we use here.

Granted that for those on a dial-up connection, it can be a bit of a nightmare with the large music files, and for some they can't "see" the navigation links on the left side of the page. But as it says at the top of each page in the site, the site was designed with Internet Explorer and Netscape Navigator in mind, and those using a third-party Web browser like Mozilla Firefox will not be able to see the links on the left due to how those browsers have their security setup. For those using IE or Netscape who can't see the links, it's either that they need to download the Java plug-in listed, or they have a third party firewall such as ZoneAlarm, and it's the settings within the firewall itself that is preventing them from seeing the links.

All in all, however, I designed the site with DSL or higher connections in mind, as they can handle the music files and so forth. With the relative low cost of DSL or Cable, I wanted to provide a site with some nice content, but not with too much "overkill".

And based on the vast responses I receive about the site, I think that I've found that balance between content and "overkill". I can tell you that the e-mails are OVERWHELMINGLY in favor of the music files used on the site, and they also say that they like the simplicity of the site and its navigational functions.

I apologize to those users like yourself who are still on a dial-up connection, and I promise that I was not designing the site with the intention of "leaving anybody behind" with regard to its content an/or multimedia files. I hope that you and others will be able to get DSL or Cable and get away from the slow dial-up connections...Believe me, I was there once, and I am SO glad to have DSL now.

~S~ to all of my ABSquad brothers...it's been a L O N G time!

I came across some old AB discs at home and thought, "I wonder how the guys are doing?" While I am glad to have found you, I am reeling from the news of MajorSpice's passing. Man, did we all have some fun online, or what?

life is too short...

Looking forward to catching up!

Salute!
