She's an A3 Neil,

Late model Anniston rebuild. She has an M1 front thermal shroud. Also has the searchlight cable aperture welded over. That should be at Irzyk Park.

Joe, I agree but was wondering why they have the searchlight guard in front of the M85? Is that si they don't shoot the gun tube?

Mark,

Was kept in place to prevent the TC from shooting the training aid devices used during gunnery/ TCPC. Telfare .50 cal and Brewster .22 sub caliber were mounted where the searchlight would be. We'd use them on reduced scale ranges. Was a money saving device and also afforded crews the ability to fire main gun tables on main gun restricted ranges.
