Post subject: "Keyhole" map animation etc......

There was a really interesting writeup on this in the current issue of Flying magazine:

"Keyhole" is a hi-res satellite image server much like the old MS "terraserver" tool if you ever saw that, but with a cool twist: Not only can you type in an address and "fly" there via the overhead shots, it also supports a "Tilt" function to tilt the terrain and then you can simulate flights into a specific area, airport, etc. It looks EXTREMELY powerful.

The catch is - not free, but they do have a 7-day free trial, seems pretty painless. When I get a week without going out of town I'm definitely gonna check it out, and you can go here to see more - play the animation for sure, and check out the links for sample shots below the animation.

Considering what it does, the $29 seems like chump change.....the interface for finding businesses, resteraunt, etc itself is amazing stuff - and very handy when on the road, methinks. The ability to fly simulated approaches into unfamiliar terrain and airports before the actual flight is even more impressive!
