I could do that - TV contestant show in Canada
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: I could do that - TV contestant show in Canada

Earlier tonight I was going through the channels (no more World Cup and I didn't see the Tour de France), and there was a guy in green (obsolete) Canadian combats driving an M113. What's this? Turns out he is a contestant on a challenge/reality show where ordinary people get to try neat things. This guy had to drive the M113 around an obstacle course and then learn various manoeuvers in an M60. Who in Canada has a running M60? Well, the Ontario Regiment RCAC Museum has a small fleet of AFVs. The contestant didn't do too badly and he reminded me how much fun horsepower can be. The other contestant was a 'Calgary cowboy chick' driving big machinery in a steel yard. Other shows have had guys using cranes and hoists, or driving smallish ships on the Great Lakes. Lame TV, but good experiences.

AFV News DG people are not "ordinary people". Many people here could drive both those vehicles unassisted and a few could tell them what's "wrong" with how they have them configured. But of course, we're too polite for for that sort of thing. Wink

Neat experiences for the average guy-in-the-street, though.
