UK AFV Register
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. I'am very interested in the serials of the following tanks;

T-34/85s
T-54A (I only have a part of the sn, 540.09.)

The museum reports the same for the T-54M

www.tankmuseum.org/ixb...lity_type=

T-55AD (Iraq)

The museum calls that one a T-55K...

There's also the following two:

T-55 SOV/POL? ind SN 736KY4785

www.tankmuseum.org/ixb...lity_type=

T-55A SOV/DDR ind SN 47WN20306; cutaway hull

www.tankmuseum.org/ixb...lity_type=

Type 59 (the one with the 105mm gun and British smoke grenade launchers

The museum website hasnt acknowledged that one yet...

Type 69 (stored, sn and is this one former operated by Iraq or China?)

There's a Type 69-IIC SN B10861009

www.tankmuseum.org/ixb...lity_type=

Also Leopard 1A1A2 rn and s/n

I am aware of a Leopard 1 series III prototype, and two Canadian Leopard C2 (1A5)s? I have info on the prototype, and one of the C2s...

Ok yes there is a Canadian Ram OUTSIDE ATDU and is inside there compound fence with a NO PHOTOGRAPH policy enforced. when I go to work Monday I try and write the serial number down but they don’t like u there .

Understood. I am curious if this is the Ram II target tank (WD No. CT159418) that was on display in the museum.
www.tankmuseum.org/ixb...lity_type=

there has been an discussion about this one in the "Grizzly and Sexton Versions" thread
www.com-central.net/in...mp;t=12327

This Ram is "Ram ETT Lit; Evasive Target Tank" and is actually an Dutch tank

It has been exchanged against the Canadian Grizzly tank now at museum in Groesbeek

So in the UK AFV register the users are CAN/NLD Wink

I you are interrested in this type of tank, I have have picture's of the one at the Cavalery museum at Amersfoort

Michel

Otherwise, other Rams in the UK I know of are: the Wheatcroft Ram Mk II recovered from Pirbright, the East of England Tank Museum's Ram Mk I, the Ram Mk II on the Salisbury Plain, the Ram Mk II at the Anzio / Leek Training Area, and Carl Brown's 2 Ram Mk IIs.

I find a Ram to be an odd choice for the ATDU display vehicle, although I suppose they might have wanted something odd Wink

M60s one is Bovington’s other was at East England Tank museum. One that use to be the one displayed at the WAR Peace show.

To make sure I understand, are you saying the East of England Tank Museum's M60A3 is now at Bovington (the second M60A3 at Bovington)?

PzKpfw VI(P) King Tiger DEU ind Hull no. 280093, turret no. 104 32

I believe that this is a Henschel tank and not a Porsche one..

Hi

sorry but bovington list is WRONG big time sorry alot have since gone or destroyed

ossie, appreciate the input - but would really appreciate some constructive input. I'm gonna try not to take umbrage, but "ALL wrong" clearly isnt correct - I have photo evidence, if not Tank Museum information on most vehicles. But as you have identified, the most circumspect listings are the display vehicles around post not directly associated with the museum. As I said, I will gladly take any constructive corrections - as I said, its just a draft...

44BA17 Centurion Mk 12h 105mm AVRE no H engine fitted. or dozer blade

Thanks for the correction.

got two m60a3s

Okay, thanks - I only had photo evidence and info from the TACOM Central Registry for one M60A3.

M48
M47

Have the M48 listed (although the museum claims it is a T48), wasnt aware of an M47.

Centurion AVLB no longer exsists
Chieftain AVLB 01FD48 is there my old tank . forget the chieftain AVRES most are scrap except two at bovington tank museum,
a AVLB and THREE DIFFERANT AVRES a centurion AVLB AND ARK are at R.E.Museum Chatham.
I surggest that you stick to non in service vehicles ie those not in ARMY USE .

I have struggled with how to differentiate non-service vehicles from in-service vehicles since my main source for Chieftains is Griffin's book and the Tank Museum's Chieftain register - both of which are likely increasingly out of date.

This also leaves various notable/historic "training aid" vehicles - such as the Conquerors at Bordon, Bovington (assuming they are still in use).

Would appreciate constructive advice/inputs on how to best differentiate these...

only a ram out side ATDU .

As in a Canadian Ram tank???

no chieftains on TANK PARK or Heath but some on lulworth tank ranges awaiting destruction along with AVREs and ARVs.

one day i take a walk around and rewrite your list as its ALL wrong . but unable to help with serving vehicles.
i live three miles from tank museum and work at Bovington camp as a cival servant

Ossie, I would greatly appreciate the info you can provide. In addition to what is currently on display I would also be interested in the fates of vehicles that were previously on display.

Rolling Eyes that's quite a strict judgement... Neutral

I'm still working on Preserved Tanks in Britain (I guess most of our discussions about it were lost in the forum crash at the end of last year). I'm currently putting Duxford online, when I have spare time, and then Muckleburgh, Bovington, Isle of Wight, Imperial War Museum and Dinscot will follow.
