Mystery Gun???? Has anyone ever seen this gun?
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Thought I would bump this back up again, The Ft Sill Museum has one now and they say it came from Aberdeen. I spoke to some of the Aberdeen folks and they don't recognize the building in the background....

I've been over what's left of Sheridan and didn't see anything along this line.

It looks like the 3" gun that our artillery used during the Spanish American War. I've seen a number of these, including two at Pensacola and one at Dieterich IL, all of which were badly maintained.

This one is in perfect shape, including the boxes over the axles (thin metal, usually long gone), which would point towards a post where artillery was prominent.

Have you put this on the Artillery group?

Armyjunk, maybe you could e-mail the picture to Dr. Atwater and ask him.

Dr Atwater retired several years ago and moved to Puerto Rico. The museum went through a couple directors after that. and then packed up and moved to Ft Lee as part of BRAC. I need to try again and see if Ed Heasley (who used to be the Curator at the Ordinance Museum) is still at the Aberdeen Post Museum but I do not believe that museum is open at the current time.
