Burgdorf (CH). Stiftung HAM
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Wow, that M1 is really rare. I have never even seen a picture.

I wasn't aware of that. I just felt it was a good series of vehicles, worth posting and sharing here.

The Museum reports it as M1 series 4, the other two are reported as M1A1 series 5. Are we sure the first is an M1 and not just another M1A1?

... I would say it's a «Ward La France Model 1000 Series 2, M1, one spare behind cab, one on passenger side of crane, rear winch (1941-1942)»

Find here all the different versions:

... and, for the Enthusiast: The WLF with number 4 on the side were used on airfields (4th vehicle in the emergency unit), the other two were used in tank repair units (Pzj G13 and L Pz 51 (AMX-13). See the letters on top of the cab. Also you can tell by the M+ number (Army registration). M+285xx were airfield trucks, M+815xx were tank repair trucks.

Two friends and I recently published a book about Swiss MVs and tanks:
Buch «Fahrzeuge der Schweizer Armee» Markus Hofmann (2015) by Chris

What is that rectangular box thing on the front of all swiss M113s?

... it's just a canvas cover for storing the backpacks of the soldiers when riding inside the M113. These were added after the floating shield was removed. So our M113 aren't "amphibious" anymore.
