Cp Hood M4 pictures from Joe...
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: Cp Hood M4 pictures from Joe...

Below is what Joe DeMarco said when he sent me these two pictures. He is a wealth of information on Shermans and their varients.
"I hope you got the photo of the M4A1 gate guard from 1948.
Here's a shot of a full scale review of the 2nd AD at Camp Hood,
3/20/50. The first M4A3(76)HVSS is 67th AR, named "Abrupt,"
USA 30114744, from the same Production Order as 61587.
I think they put a little motor oil on them to make the paint shine for
these occassions.
Notice it has the T66 track while some of the others have the T80.
Attached is a Signal Corps shot taken
in 1948 of a gate guard at Camp Hood. This is not the same M4A1E9
as you've seen at the 4th ID Museum, notice it has a 3-piece diff housing.
I'm sure USA 3015191 is the original Reg. Number. Notice as well, the
2nd AD patch on the sign & the tank. A friend who visited Hood in the 80s,
I think, had listed 4 Shermans & an M40 at the 2nd AD Museum and/or
barracks here. I reckon the 2nd AD facilities have been transferred to other
units along with their AFV collection?
Maybe 3015191 has survived & is hiding in plain site somewhere on the base?"
