This photo is dated Oct 25,2009. May be two different tanks. The one you have I believe is on Fort Irwin Road at the fort's boundary. Back in the 80's there was an M84 mortar carrier across the highway from it. The camo matched what the California National Guard was using. In fact, I believe they originally painted it. I guess we need to know if there is still an M48 on Fort Irwin Road.

Yeah, I've got that one.

There's another one at the Operations Group HQ.

I'm also looking for the range wreck, but its not a high priority...

Mark,
Many thanks for these. Can you give me a link to the flickr gallery these are coming from? I generally prefer to link to the flickr page, than directly linking to the image - particularly if there are multiple pics of the same vehicle.

I've never seen an M60A3 with those ball mounts. The brackets maybe but not the balls.

Mark,

Those balls were common with MATES site NG tanks, since they utilized the training aids (Telfare, Brewster, and M55 Laser) a lot more than active units. All those A3's at Irwin are former CA ARNG tanks from the MATES site there.
