hi folks WeDGe here signing in....i guess my account has been activated sence i can now post ...i have to say this place is huge, lots to see here and good to find people that like variety from bush to jets ..love it .I,m the virtual flight planner over at Midnight aviation as well as trying to get multiplayer flights going at the new Misty moorings..its great scenery but going slow gets old qwick..lol...i had the pleasure of meeting one of your members on last weeks " Misty Hop" Lazyeight . It was nice to fly with a veteren Multiplayer flyer like myself .....we imediatly hit it off and i look forward to flying with him and anyone else in a multiplayer flight ...i just get bored real quick flying offline and almost only fly multiplayer. I wish i could say that i,m looking forward to your sunday flight, marco puts together a nice presentation and goes all out to provide the flightplans in muliple formats, "something i was always frustrated with trying to achive "but alase i work sundays ..i do a regular thursdaynight flight at midav and or RTMM return to misty moorings. so if anyone here would like something to do thursday night your welcome to jump in Thats how i meet Lazyeight...it always amazed me at how few people actually even try to join MP flights .

My purpose here is two fold however , not only am i hopping to get to meet and fly with some new friends on your server or ours at Midnight aviation but also am looking for alittle help.we Xray mike the ceo of midnight aviation and myself are trying to get a gamespy server going after discovering that MP flying can be really smooth like good old fs9 was ...we have been using fshost untill lazy eight came along .....tks man for the heads up on that....however we or should i say Xray mike cant seam to get it set up right....any help would be welcome cheers to all and looking forward to making a few more flightsim buddies..cheers , oh yea its WeDGE when flying bush or slow stuff and Coop when i,m in the fast movers...

Welcome to Com-Central WeDGe!

Thank you for all the kind words and yes, we have a great bunch hangin' out here (even Lazyeight).. (kidding Buddy..lol) ...

For FSX Multi-player, we do a weekly Sunday Flight and mix it up with planes that are needed for the job. Since we fly in "real time", flying a long distance requires different aircraft than flying in "bush" and landing along rivers, islands and so forth. We've looked at Misty Moorings and the scenery there is stunning and I'll look more into joining you on Thursday evenings... Smile

For using GameSpy as a server, we've found it works well and it seems the bugs are nominal as compared to when it was first introduced. What problems are you having with it?

thanks for the welcome bushwacker...the problem we are having for one is that when we try and install gamespy on the server .it says that the video card isent good enough ,, well its a server machine and doesnot have a video card of its own ..what exactly has to be on the server to run a gamespy, session? besides fsx that is ,nothing like hitting a brick wall right at the start ..I,ll post a link at Midav over there .the timberwolf group flys on sunday afternoons but has kinda drifted away i guess you could say .but there are still a few guys lingering around that might be interested in joining you ..... heres the link to midnight aviation home page

heres the link to midnight aviation home page which explains what midav is all about

Hi again WeDGe!

We don't run Gamespy on a server and instead pick one person to Host a new session (game). I suppose you could run a FSX install and set up a server so others could join a pre-setup game. If Gamespy is 'whining' about Resolution, vid cards are relatively cheap these days and putting them in isn't hard to do.

Thanks for the Midnight Aviation site link! It's always great to find new sites related to what we all find enjoyable and we sure hope to see some cross-linking among members!

"Borrowing" flight plans? (Snickering) ... Of course!! The same offer is also extended to your group. Marco (UHU Rodion) is our resident Flight Plan maker and I'm sure you find his plans are well thought out and enjoyable... Wink

Hey WeDGe,
Fancy meeting you here! I've just had my membership approved. Whew. I was sweating bullets, there. Thought they might dig into my background and find some shady residue. Anyway, . . . we're in. Boy, security is getting tough all over.
I look forward to my first flight with a new group, and some I already have met. I was about to post my "hello", but wanted to see some other people's posts first, to get a feel for the format people use when introducing themselves.
Oh, I was contemplating the Gamespy thing just now, and I think I could probably host a session. I am driving an AM3 motherboard with an AMD Phenom II X6 (six core) CPU. I have a 1Gig ATI Radeon 5770 video card and 8 Gigs of system RAM. I've never hosted Gamespy before, but I'd be interested in trying it. Let's get our heads together and maybe we can get it going.

edit - I just read this article about hosting "without" gamespy. http://www.chocolatesoftware.com/forum/index.php?topic=781.0
Cheers!

Thanks Lazyeight, I should have plenty of time to get things organized before Sunday. Yes, sometimes people accidentally do great things. I like that flightplan. It showcases that island group very well, and almost all of the scenery points are covered. The Aiken Creek camp was a great approach challenge, as I did a near-stall vertical descent, down the mountainside, over the treetops and into the water (like a duck) lol. I'm not much good at "setting up an approach". I'm more of a direct approach style. You'd think, that after flying in the simulator for the past 10 years, that I'd get some technique and grace. But no, I just get in and go. I'm glad it's just a sim. I've never had a crash I couldn't walk away from. lol. See ya Sunday.

LOL...that's true but I have to warn him about crashing around Shades' location as there's so many wrecked Euro planes that there isn't room for more... (snickering).
