#1: Bovington, FV 4004 Conway or FV 4005? Author: Massimo_Foti, Location: Lugano, SwitzerlandPosted: Sun Mar 18, 2012 6:25 pm ---- During my visit last year, I saw this tank outside the Museum:
Inside the Museum there is a scale model of it, labeled as "Conway". I asked the Museum's crew about it, at first they were unable to identify it, but they called somebody else and told me it's a "Conway".
To be sincere, the turret looks too big compared to the standard Centurion tank, just to hold a 120mm gun. Especially if you compare it to a Conqueror.
The FV 4005 used a a 183 mm gun. Based on Trevor's source and the fact that the gun looks bigger than a 120mm, I am almost sure Trevor got it right. Do we have additional info?

Easiest way to distinguish it from the Conway is that the Conway has a cast mantlet.

Bovington has changed its database records again, so the links on their profile pages no longer work. I'm in the process of creating a system that will get around this - for now you can access them here:
