glass has been trashed and blue tarp stuffed in to keep it dry. Nobody even wonders why they can't find the pilot? maybe it has something to do with the wooden sign

(Really a shame there is no Sty scenery for FSX/Prepar3D, I miss those joints. I got my bud the Baron to do a custom paint just so I could rib you, get it?)

You're gonna' need a whole bunch of those deodorizin' evergreen thingies, too. Just sayin'...

Sadly, there were no Ascout-friendly scenery tools like FSSC for FSX, etc.

Some of my sceneries work in FSX, though the extreme cratered ones don't reflect the terrain depression that were based on known anomalies in FS9. Phu Bai works in FSX, but with a couple of texture aberrations on two of the parked aircraft, if that's a big deal. (at least, that's per Stoopy's report).

Oh, I most definitely got it, I think it's quite clever! Nicely done! Smile

I had a start on some custom scenery around Orcas in FSX, in an attempt to build an equivalent replacement 'Sty. It didn't seem as easy to replace some of the stock graphics on predefined scenery objects (in other words, make new signs), but I made progress on most everything else. My test area was the island just to the west of Orcas (Waldron Island). I have a nice private scenery with 55 gallon drums, junk and old cars strewn around, some tents and hangars with rollaway tool chests put in use, Easter Island statues (Moai) protecting the approach end of the airstrip, and other goodies. I could NOT find any pigs nor could I get the old macro-based pigs from Ascout's scenery to work, and even chatted with Jordan at HoverControl about it, as he was the original creator of the lil' swines. So I went so far as to generate a new (and very detailed) pig in GMAX, replete with tusks. I got so far as learning how to export from GMAX into FSX scenery classes, but never got to texturing the 3D model (although the base color was pinkish-flesh so maybe it woulda worked). I also had a start on adding some dynamic scenery, which used bikini-clad babes on windsurfing boards that someone created and released for use. That was a bit tricky making the path files and that's about when I hit the wall for the time being.

There's just so much you have to master in order to do all of that. By the time I learned how to do the 3D model, I forgot the fine points of texturing in FSX with the new bump maps and other new features. My dream is to someday, when life can friggin' slow down, get the time to re-appraoch it. It is very cool to fly a low and slow approach to my home base and see the Moai on the beach greeting me and ensuring a safe landing, and then taxi up to my maintenance tent with the tool chests and shut down, parked right next to my '68 Cutlass Supreme station wagon with mag wheels (that someone released as a scenery object). Getting the Pigsty back would be a very major win.

So let's sum up, shall we?....

MS stops supporting CFS3 servers and JG300 has no where to fight.....

FSX is released, with no easy tools for updating the 'Sty.....

Flight Sim support cases their colors over at MS....

What combat flight sim there is reflects period 20-25 years before the squad is formed....

Suddenly, it's revealed that the heavy breathing we're hearing on the field telephone isn't Manolo's masseur as was once thought, but some three-letter agency trying to get the password to our toga parties and taco nights...

Coincidence? Rolling Eyes

Instant scenery 3 just came out and supports FSX/ P3D and I am going to buy it when finances allow, so there may yet be some hope. Except for the babes and big "secret base" probably most of the field can be done so I may give it a shot if that's OK with the swine

I can't think of any objection. Maybe you'll learn some tips and acquire some objects that can be shared with this old boar.

FYI, I just re-used the existing runway in my version, all I really did was add peripheral facilities and eye candy. Looking back, I could have done it a lot better, but only expected about a dozed people to be even remotely interested. Download figures at Hovercontrol belied that, however so I wish I'd put more effort into it at the time.

Ditto. Especially if a workaround can be found for that pesky babe* problem!
