Kaspersky security software is banned in America: What you need to know

I am one of the lucky sob’s that got bit by this situation. I have been using Kaspersky products since 2009 and I only found out about the change when two of my three systems, Mom & Dad's, were upgraded without my consent Monday evening, September 26, 2024. The third system, mine, is not using Kaspersky so it should remain safe.

For some fun reading here are some threads on the joy of uninstalling the UltraAV malware
I was completely unaware of this situation until I got that nasty little surprise yesterday morning.

I still have not got this debacle fixed. I am going to have to buy an inexpensive computer and get it all set up and then go back and work on the two that were caught in this mess.

I forgot to update this thread. I finally used the free version of Revo Uninstaller to remove the ransomware/malware from my parents computers... Whoops, I mean virus software.

Their systems have been doing just fine since I got rid of UltraAV and installed Bitdefender on them. Bitdefender can be a bit overzealous for the experienced user but for me it is doing an awesome job keeping my parents online footprint in check.
