#1: Pressed Steel Car Company Chicago (Hegewisch) Author: supertsar, Posted: Sat Jun 23, 2007 1:07 pm ---- Does anyone know a source for determining exactly what tanks were produced by the Pressed Steel Car Company during WWII? I have found snippets but no comprehensive list. My dad built tanks there before he enlisted in 1943. He remembers the riveted Grants, "open topped tanks" (Priests I assume), flail tanks (!), and shermans... just trying to confirm his memories.

I'm not sure if they built any M4A3.

I didn't expect the M4A1s - I didn't think they had a foundry there to cast hulls - wonder where they came from. Turrets as well. There were plenty of founderies nearby in South/East Chicago.
