For some reason it reminds me of the 45th Infantry Division museum in Oklahoma City.

Definitely Central Europe,

Germany or Belgium judging by the style of the buildings in the background- could be Baumholder, but I have not been there for almost 20 years.

I will ask around...

Can anyone make out the bumper markings on the Halftrack? That might give us a clue.

Funny thing is I think we've seen another picture of this collection in the past. I was sure someone would give a firm ID right away when it was posted.

I can't find the museum at Baumholder, anyone know where it is?

This is the museum at Wiesbaden, doesn't look like the photo was taken there.

Another landmark at Wiesbaden, thought the forum hosts might be interested

Come on guys, Oklahoma or Kansas, those buidings are in Germany. The bumper markings for the M16 are from "The Big Dead One", 1ID. Where's their Div HQ in Germany these days?

Tanker 2010 hit right on target! HQ 1st Inf Div is at Wurzburg. Here's some overhead pictures. Looks like a perfect match to me.

I've been looking all over Germany. Beautiful country. Here's another armor museum that I stumbled across.

I lived in Wiesbaden from early 76 til May 77, never knew about the Red Barons Grave site.....

That sucks,.....I totally missed that.

The third picture was taken in Dresden definitely - that former NVA Museum is official Bundeswehr Museum now.
They are closing their "Panzergarten" (see the picture) every winter but inner exhibits are interesting too.
There are A34 Comet, T-34, Wiesel (WW2 one), Schwimmwagen, Sherman (M4A1 I guess), SdKfz 251 and Schwere Wermachts Schlepper with not very original superstructure.
Some midget submarine (Seehund or Hecht) is inside along a rusty PzIII turret. NVA line of exhibits is interesting too - lots of scale models, GrenzTrabi, torpedo boat conning tower e.t.c. Really nice place to visit.

1ID HQs went back to the States last year. I was by there in October this year, but I didn't look close at the museum area. I believe most of those vehicles are still there, but they most likely won't be for long, since Leighton Barracks is all but closed now and is pretty much a ghost town (well, compared to wjat it used to be, anyway). Everything in that area except the two kaserne in Schweinfurt will be closing in 2008.

...."The Big Dead One"

Please, don't use that expression. I know it's a common, but it hits home to some.

Wonder if all these collections will ever make it back Stateside. Noticed what looks like a Leopard I in the 1 ID overhead. Isn't Anniston the storage area for that kinda stuff?
