Kurt, many thanks!

Can you give me a more exact location for the Cromwell M41?

Thanks again!

IN-5 and the railroad tracks. It was right where the GPSers said it was, 41.40698N, 85.61095W

The Saint Marys M60A3 is approximately 40.551N, 84.436W.

Looking at the map, the GPSers pegged the Marion IN M60 at an armory in town. The one I saw was at approximately MP 70, which I think is the Van Buren IN M60.

Yes, that would appear to confirm the Van Buren M60 at 7595 E 450 N - rather than the Marion M60 on E Williams St (far off the interstate).

For correctness, a repost of the entire message

Port Clinton/Camp Perry OH - In addition to the M4A3 and M5A1 listed in the AFVR/US, I logged:
M1 105mm tank, S/N 531 (turret), 467 (hull)
M551 AAV, painted R/N 1209586, which I suspect was originally 12C9586
M113 APC, stamped M195 on front differential, AB29/SJ217 under left headlight, 217 on the center of the ramp. 12E669 was painted on
M42A1 SPAAG, S/N 224, painted 12C131

Estral Beach MI - M4A3 med tank. Joe DeMarco sent me the following details from Jim Goetz who visited it a couple of days later: SN 11762, 41,59.221N, 083,14.403W, Town Hall and Fire Dept, 7151 Lakeview Blvd

Cromwell IN - M41 76mm tank, S/N 980

Warsaw IN - M3A3 lt tank, S/N 12562, painted 3047999, which is an M5A1 number and should be ignored

Fort Wayne IN - M41 76mm tank, S/N 2510 or 2506

Richmond IN - East M3A3 lt tank could be 13367; west tank could be 131xx

Saint Marys OH - M60A3 105mm tank, S/N 2532A, R/N JJ04LR

Hartford City IN - M4A1(76) HVSS med tank - S/N 67984

Huntington IN - M4A1(76) HVSS med tank - S/N 68091

Gas City IN - M5 light tank, S/N 671

Anna OH - Found the former AL post - no longer an AL. No tank.

Goshen IN - AL is no longer in town, and when it was it did not have a tank. VFW member stated that there has never been a tank in town anywhere.

Van Buren IN - saw M60 from I-69 at speed. Too far from an exit to investigate. Approximately 40.617N 85.532W on E 450 N road.

Auburn IN - No tanks at Victory Museum, only M18 76mm GMC. They have three half-tracks, one is M16 type, one M3, and one M3 I think. Other vehicles on list appear OK.

Additionally, verified the following: Toledo and Eaton OH M4A3 med tanks, Sandusky OH M5 lt tank.

Kurt,
Do you have a location for the Gas City Stuart?

Thanks again!

Kurt,

I live about 20 miles from Anna, OH. and I used to work in Anna,
For the last 30 years or so there hasn't been a tank there and I haven't found anybody that remembers one. I'll see what I can find out about that one.
When you were at the M60 in St. Marys OH. you where just 6 miles east of a M3A3 at the American Legion at 2510 State Route 703 Celina, OH.
I have the serial no. somewhere if you want it. By the way, that tank is about 200 yrds N.E. of a 4H camp that was a POW camp in WW2 housing Germans.

Mike,
Source on the Anna tank is the US Army's registry of donated items - it says that an M5 Stuart was donated to American Legion Post #446 in Anna Ohio (at least at some point, may have been 50 years ago...).

Considering that the registry info could be out of date (ie long since moved) or inaccurate, the "Anna Stuart" could well be one of the Stuarts in West Liberty, Celina or even Delphos....

Neil,
I agree with you that the list is probably outdated. I'll ask my father in law, he grew up there but he is 89 and his memory is slipping.
Has anyone confirmed the one listed in West Liberty? I've been through there a lot and don't recall it either. If it isn't confirmed I'll try to get over there soon and check it out. I have a feeling that it to may be a victim of an outdated list.

Hi Mike:

I forgot to mention that I also went by Celina (actually that was my destination) because it was already on Neil's list.

I also wondered about the West Liberty tank. I couldn't find any reference to a veteran's hall in that area.

Finally, is the Lima Sherman in the museum or at the water company?

Thanks,
KL

It's at the City Hall, 211 E Main Street (US 35). There's a photo of it in the files or photos section of the G103 group.

According to the American Legion, Post 426 is located at 209 W. Columbus St. - thats the post that the registry says has an M5A1 Stuart.

Crap.

I was about 10 miles from there, but my map program had West Liberty as a small crossroads about 65 miles away, up near Mansfield and no AL nearby.

Guys,
I found 3 West Libertys in Ohio, AND 3 addresses for the one in Logan County. Besides the one shown by Neil, here are the other 2

American Legion, Woodard-Mc-Govern Post 426
PO Box 483 West Liberty, OH
(740) 362-1429
43357-9366

AMERICAN LEGION
112 PICKRELLTOWN RD
West Liberty, OH
43357-9366

Kurt, I'll have to check on the Lima M4A3E8. The museum just built a large addition and I haven't had a chance to get up there.

Mike
