This was fun (and waiting for us when you finally get out here, Stoopy...)

There are 2-3 F-4 cockpits (and one two-engine prop ASW type aircraft) on the hangar deck of the USS Midway in San Diego. BIG screens to the front. Takes two people...these are real F-4 cockpits on the inside.
When I did it, I had JG300-Stumpf as my RIO while I flew (and an extra pair of eyes on the radar is a MUST!)...and, well....we kicked butt. These fly against each other and some aircraft flown by Naval pilots on smaller rigs off to the side to keep things lively. We got three confirmed kills, successfully completed 7 of 8 carrier landings (with one bolder, but survived) and several landings at North Island. Never crashed. We'd have gotten more kills, but there was not good feedback when you splashed one and I didn't think we were getting the hits I thought we should, so I salvoed my last 3 rockets on a single target thinking I'd been missing.
You take a 20 minute pre-flight briefing (from real Naval fliers...our debrief indicated he was fairly impressed with my "crew")...and get ~20min. sim time for ~$20 a head. I'd do it again if one of you guys get down here...

OOOHHHHH,

Another reason to try and convince the wife to take a trip to San Diego.

The last time I was there was as a kid. Got a tour of the USS Constellation which I believe was the largest Aircraft Carrier at the time.

The Navy almost got me with that trip Smile
