To whomever was interested in WWII German "mini-tanks":
The AFV ASSOCIATION was formed in 1964 to support the thoughts and research of all those interested in Armored Fighting Vehicles and related topics, such as AFV drawings. The emphasis has always been on sharing information and communicating with other members of similar interests; e.g. German armor, Japanese AFVs, or whatever.

Post subject: To whomever was interested in WWII German "mini-tanks":
Specifically in Africa as I recall the poster mentioning, I queried a person on another board and here is his response:

I found the reference in issue 2/2004 of "Kit Military Models", and the author quotes Markus Jaugitz: "Funklenkpanzer", J.J. Fedorowicz Publishing, Canada as his primary source.

Boiled down to the essentials, parts of "Panzer-Versuchs- und Ausbildungskompanie (FL) 300" and "Panzer-Ersatz-Abteilung 5" formed "Versuchskommando (FL) Tropen", "FL" standing for "Fernlenk-" or "Fernlenkung" (remote control). Those conducted trials near El Alamein from 15th September, 1942 to Nov. 1942, when the Goliaths and Borgwards were destroyed prior to evacuating the remaining personnel to Italy and Greece.

Vehicle equipment of the unit was:

1st Platoon: 2 troops of five Borgward B IV "Ladungsleger"
2nd Platoon: 12 Goliaths

Further vehicles: 3 PzKpfw. III Ausf. J, 3ton Halt-track tractors, and 3ton Opel Blitz Allrad (no hard numbers on the transport vehicles). 78 troops.
